PhoenixFire really seems to be a case of a guy who didn't realize where things were headed until it was too late, and cared more about saving his own skin and keeping things technically correct than actually stopping a damn witch-hunt. He enabled this thinking and behavior, readily accepting databyte's suggestions on how to categorize things (with a category for "troublesome" users) on the PCL server.
I feel sorry for him only in that he's been as much blamed as databyte for the list itself, when clearly it was created by a bunch of his mods teaming up behind his back and strongarming him. He made a severe mistake and I think is forgivable, but only if he REALLY owns up and admits that the whole server is a little misguided and actively boots out databytes and daring for flagrant abuses.

While that's against the rules on these servers, having it in a single easy-to-search place is a single step removed from just compiling a massive list of anyone deemed degenerate as in alt-right or MAP (with the step being just to go from "was out unsolicited harassing people" to "ever shared this stuff"), and one particular G5 server literally as a result just created a rule that says "We will ban those we see who are members of the alt-right, MAPs, etc.", because they literally just up and decided to use PCL as an easy outsourced banlist!

It's asserted onto anything and anyone aggressively.

Every time that behavior pops up those three points are there. Technically it's one singular behavior pulled apart for verbose examples.
